Day 1: Arrive in Bucharest, our capital city, at Otopeni Airport. Meet the guide and board on the bus. Leave straight toward east to one of the most important and impressive places in Romania, the Danube Delta. Overnight in Hotel Delta 3*.
Day 2: After breakfast, start a full day excursion in the Danube Delta. The waters of the Danube, which flow into the Black Sea, form the largest and best preserved deltas in of Europe. The Danube Delta hosts over 300 species of birds as well as 45 freshwater fish species in its numerous lakes and marshes. Lunch with typical fish menu included on board. Overnight in the same 3* hotel.
Day 3: Breakfast and departure towards north taking the routes of the historical region of Moldavia. En route, stop at Panciu for lunch and wine-tasting. Arrive to Iasi, the capital of Moldavia since 1565, one of the most beautiful cities in the region. Overnight in Hotel Astoria 3* which was built after the plans of Gustave Eiffel in 1822!
Day 4: After breakfast, visit the second largest Romanian city after Bucharest. Iaşi is the economic, cultural and academic centre of the Romanian region of Moldavia. The city has the oldest Romanian university, it is home to more than 50 churches. Cultural life gravitates around the National Theatre (the oldest in Romania), the Opera House, the Iaşi State Philarmonic, the Tătăraşi Atheneum, a famous Botanical Garden (the oldest and largest in Romania) and the University’s Central Library (the oldest in Romania). After lunch, depart to the region of Bucovina, famous for its painted monasteries and churches. Visit Voronet monastery, well-known for the high quality of the frescoes and the dominant colour blue, also called “Voronet blue”.Overnight in Popasul Bucovina Hotel.
Day 5: After breakfast, continue to discover the region of Bucovina with two more monasteries considered to be among the most beautiful in the region included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, Sucevita and Moldovita. Stop for lunch in a traditional farm with egg-painting demonstration. Depart from this region and head for Transylvania, the region that might remind you of … Dracula. Arrive to the city of Targu-Mures, a typical town for this region, with Art-Nouveau architectural style buildings. Overnight in Continental Hotel 3*.
Day 6: After breakfast, short walk in the city centre of the city and visit of the Palace of Culture. Depart to Sighisoara - visit of one of the best preserved citadels in Europe, part of UNESCO sites. Lunch in a medieval restaurant of the citadel, very close to the birth place of Vlad Tepes (the real name of Dracula). Leave Sighisoara for the Szekler Land. Overnight and home made dinner in Olga’s guest house with traditional folk music.
Day 7: In the morning after breakfast you will learn how to bake bread, weave, you will see the blacksmith at work making horse-shoes and taste the traditional local cake “kürtős kalács”. Continue to Brasov - walking tour of the Saxon medieval city, including visit of the Black Church (built between 1383 and 1477), with an impressive oriental carpet collection. Then we continue in bus to Bran village, where the people of Brasov built in the mountain pass a fortress to defeat the main commercial road between Transylvania and Walachia. Visit the famous, so called Dracula’s castle… After the visit, time for shopping in the bazaar.Overnight in Poiana Brasov resort at Hotel Alpin 4*.
Day 8: Breakfast and board on the bus again. Continue driving across the southern Carpathians to Sinaia, the place where the 1st Romanian King, Carol of Hohenzolern - Sigmaringen, decided to build his Summer residence in the late 19th cent., Peles castle. Visit Peles castle, one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe, with a great art collection, stained-glass windows and weapon collection.Peles castle is closed on Monday (all year round) and Tuesday (off season).Lunch in a local restaurant where you taste a copious traditional Balkan meal.Leave to Bucharest after lunch. Upon arrival panoramic city tour of the capital: driving along the main avenues of Bucharest to discover the glorious Belle Epoque buildings, the capital once known as "Little Paris". During the sightseeing we have 2 photo stops at the Revolution Sq (the place where the revolution in 1989 started) and at the Parliament Palace. C/in at the hotel Opera / Venezia 3*+. Farewell dinner.
Day 9: Breakfast and visit the Palace of Parliament, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon! Transfer to the airport, according to the flight schedule.
